I am at that age.
I don’t want to finish that sentence. The sentence acknowledging my age. Of being at that age. The age when the meaning of ‘It’s great to see you’ includes both gratitude and dread. It means there are more and more possibilities I will never see you again. After all, I am at that age.
At this age, I could focus on the dread of the possibility. I’ve learned to, and continue to practice, gratitude. I’m grateful for this moment, and the next moment, whatever the next moment presents. Gratitude for seeing you, in this moment. Gratitude for being seen in this moment.
I’m at that age.
The age of recognizing, with gratitude, this fleeting moment.
